Professor Emeritus Thea Brown

Professor Emeritus Thea Brown (B.A. Dip Social Work, Univ of Sydney, Ph.D. Univ Of Melb), Department of Social Work, Monash University, is a policy researcher in the field of family violence.

Her work has covered partnership breakdown and family violence, including the Commonwealth supported study into family violence post the 2006 family law legislation that led to the 2012 family law legislation, and intervention into male violence, with two studies supported by Rotary evaluating Men’s Behaviour Change Programs, published in 2012 and 2017, and three studies on filicide published in 2013, 2014 and 2019. Her most recent publication (with Danielle Tyson and Paula Fernadez Arias) is the book, When Parents Kill Children, Palgrave Macmillan.

She is one of the three convenors of the Monash Deakin Filicide Research Hub which holds a conference on filicide every second year.
