Our vision is reflected in the name “Violence Free Families” and our primary objective is the prevention of all forms of violence in the wider family. We aim to reduce all types of family violence: physical, psychological, emotional, financial, sexual. We provide a nation-wide community focus for action against violence.
Violence Free Families is a community development project reflecting widespread community concern about the damage done by family violence. We recognise that the most serious element of this complex problem is violence perpetrated by men against women and that one in four Australian children witness this violence or abuse. Our current programs are directed towards this element as a priority.
The aim of Violence Free Families is to reduce family violence by:
- developing new types of prevention programs
- supporting others in their work with perpetrators
- researching the most effective interventions
- increasing community awareness.
